The Delightful Karma Alabama’s IVF Ruling has Wrought on Republicans

I’ve never been a big fan of karma. In part because it took me about a decade to learn to spell it correctly, and in part because if Karma is really a thing, then I am totally screwed for copying every single answer in my college French class off of the french-fluent Vietnamese kid sitting next to me. Yay Colonialism!!

Nonetheless, I can’t help but glean some schadenfreude (talk about learning to spell something) from the Karmic nightmare that the Republican reproductive insanity is causing them. The theocratic right celebrated the overruling of Dobbs and the end of the constitutional right to abortion in the US as if their team won the Super Bowl. But unlike the Chiefs victory over the 49ers, the consequences and irreconcilable inconsistencies of the Dobbs decision reverberate long after the last Clydesdale has drunk his last Bud Light.

To fully appreciate the right’s dilemma, one must recall the specific argument that they have been making since Roe vs. Wade was decided, when they thought Roe would spare them the requirement of actually defending the logical results of this argument.

The argument, stated completely fairly, was this: At the very second of conception, a full human being is created. This full human being is and should be morally and legally indistinguishable…
